Nowadays, everyone needs to be extra careful with the things that they use, especially with products that go in their bodies and on their skin.
If you’ve ever had long locks, you’re probably familiar with its tendencies to gets dirty a lot quicker than short hair—which makes shampooing a regular thing. But those fragrant gooey stuff that goes on your hair aren’t spare from toxic chemicals. There are numerous harmful substances in cosmetics, and those can lead to health problems. If you’re trying to live a clean, green life it only makes sense to seek out all natural, non-toxic options. Choosing organic shampoo and conditioner products is one of the best starting point.
Although regular shampoos are more accessible as they are readily available in any store at cheaper prices, most of them contain high amounts of sulfate. This chemical causes the formula to lather, making you feel like you’re really getting those pesky dirt off of your hair, and in to the drain. That’s why it’s always a good idea to know the features of good shampoo and compare it to what you currently use.
But is natural shampoo really better for your hair?
The primary difference between organic and conventional hair care products is the quality of ingredients being used. Think of it as natural vs. synthetic. Organic shampoo brands gently infuse your hair follicles and skin cells with herbal extracts, natural minerals, and oils that can help address skin conditions. A good example of this is tea tree oil that is used to aid in easing dandruff and scalp irritation.
If you are looking for shampoo that helps you get healthy hair, look for organic shampoo ingredients that are natural moisturizers like coconut oil and aloe vera. If you want to get an extra shine on your hair, look for something with organic shea butter.
When you use organic shampoos and conditioners, you’re also helping the environment by letting biodegradable substances go down the drain instead of harsh chemicals. Below are a few of the natural hair care and skin care products that I like to use.
What do you want in your shampoo?
The trend in products nowadays is “organic everything,” but if you’re not really into going gaga over organic shampoos brands what you can do is to check out what goes into your shampoo and to really check out the features of a good shampoo.
Glycerin goes on the top of our list. This is a fatty liquid that’s added in your shampoo helps in moisturizing your hair, making sure that your locks get all the oils it needs to be protected from the harmful rays of the sun, dust and dirt, and all the other pollutants in the air.
Aside from the ones mentioned earlier, organic shampoo ingredients like chamomile, lemon, avocado, and jojoba oil (which is probably the best herbal extract for your hair) all make great additions to your shampoo. If it comes from Mother Nature, it’s probably a good addition!
Results will vary from person to person. Find what works best for you to experience rejuvenated, gentle, and yet, effective hair care.
